What Can You Do With Your REs?
Investors generally have three options:
1. Apply for rights shares: Purchase additional shares at the announced issue price by submitting an application and payment.
2. Sell your REs: Sell your entitlements on the exchange before the RE trading window closes.
3. Take no action: Unused REs expire and become worthless after the applicable deadlines.
Rights Issue Example
Suppose a company announces a rights issue in the ratio of 2:7 at ₹85 per share.
If you hold 70 shares on the record date, you may receive 20 REs, allowing you to apply for 20 additional shares for ₹1,700.
You can either apply for these shares or sell your REs during the permitted trading period.
