Muhurat Trading Session: Diwali 2025

The festival of lights is not just about celebrations and family gatherings—it also carries a special significance for investors and traders. Every year, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) conducts a symbolic Muhurat Trading session on the day of Diwali, marking an auspicious beginning for wealth creation.

 

This year, Muhurat Trading will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, giving market participants an opportunity to make new investments, start fresh portfolios, and trade with positivity on this sacred occasion.

 

According to the NSE circular, the Muhurat Trading timings will be as follows: 

 

  • Pre-Open Session: 1:30 PM to 1:45 PM
  • Normal Market Session: 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM 

 

Additional market sessions include:

 

  • Block Deal Session: 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM
  • Special Pre-Open Session (IPO & Relisted Securities): 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM
  • Call Auction for Illiquid Stocks: 1:50 PM to 2:35 PM
  • Closing Session: 2:55 PM to 3:05 PM
  • Trade Modification Cut-off: Till 3:15 PM 

 

All trades executed during the Muhurat session will result in settlement obligations as per exchange rules.

 

Things to know about Diwali 2025 Muhurat Trading Session

 

  • Please keep your account funded in advance for the Special Muhurat Trading Session.
  • Call and Trade facility will be available between 01:30 PM and 02:45 PM.
  • There will be no funds payout/withdrawals on 21st October 2025.
  • Margin pledge and unpledge facilities will be unavailable on 21st October 2025.
  • All intraday positions (including cover and bracket orders) may be squared off after 02:30 PM.
  • Credit bills of all segments for 20th October 2025 will not be available on the Trading System Margins on 21st October 2025.
  • Stocks bought on Monday, 20th October 2025, will not be available for selling on Tuesday, 21st October 2025 (BTST) due to the double pay-in of securities.

IRFC OFS Opens for Retail on Feb 26 at ₹104 Floor Price

The government has set a floor price of ₹104 per share for the IRFC offer for sale (OFS), with retail bidding opening on February 26, 2026, following non-retail participation on February 25. The Centre plans to divest up to a 4% stake in Indian Railway Finance Corporation, potentially raising around ₹5,430 crore at the indicated price. Meanwhile, IRFC shares slipped to a two-year low of ₹104.52 on the NSE.
