Change in Lot Sizes for Nifty Derivatives
The NSE has announced changes in the lot size of some popular derivative contracts. This will take effect from October 28, 2025 (EOD).
What’s Changing?

No change in Nifty Next 50 (Lot size remains 25).
Why it Matters?
Lower lot sizes mean lower contract value, making it easier for investors and traders to participate.
These changes are part of SEBI’s regular review to keep contract sizes aligned with market levels.
Existing contracts will continue with current lot sizes till December 30,2025 expiry.
Key Dates to Remember
October 28, 2025: New lot sizes apply for contracts.
December 30, 2025: Transition for quarterly and half-yearly contracts.
Tip: Investors should recheck their open positions and fresh trades in these indices after the change.
